This product was Hotels.com’s first entry into the tablet app market. Despite working with a third-party vendor for development, design was done almost completely in-house. My contributions:
- Interviewed and evaluated application development vendors
- Adapted existing customer journeys and design principles (created by me) to a mobile context
- Commissioned ethnographic research to better understand the mobile and tablet context of use
- Advised on application of human interface guidelines to product
- Recommended app capabilities based on user context and in consideration of existing mobile web experience
- Advised on embedded web purchase flow implementation to mitigate conversion risk
